Mobile websites are used in conjunction with QR codes. A mobile website is not the same as a "mobile optimized" website. A mobile optimized website is basically your regular website, but simplified. It has a cleaner navigation and it just scrolls down, not left to right.
A mobile website is accessed by scanning a QR code with a smart phone. You won't be able to find this website through a search engine. If you're a realtor, you might put a QR code next to a home you're trying to sell. The code would drive to a mobile website with the listing information, some photos and a contact form. If you're a restaurant, you might put a QR code on your menu saying to "join the VIP club." The QR code would take the user to a mobile website with information about the VIP club and a form to join the email list.
