How to Build Inbound Links to Your Blog

buil-inbound-links-blog-people-walkingIf your blog gets good positioning in the SERPS (Search Engine Results Pages) for keyword search phrases important to your business, that equals more traffic, more clicks and more revenue. Links directed to your blog from other blogs or websites are called backlinks or inbound links.  The number of quality backlinks to your website gives it a certain amount of authority in the search engines. Originally, naturally-occurring backlinks that come over time as people find your content were deemed to be the most. However, if you want to speed up the process to impact your blog positioning, here’s how.

  • Find the places where you can get quality backlinks – use your search phrases to find other blogs where you can post an article, message or comment that includes a link to your blog.
  • Get listed in Directories – this is generally free, it just takes awhile. Directories like DMOZ and Yahoo are good examples.
  • Forums and Articles Directories – forum posts can be short; article posts should be longer and well-written. Look for respected forums and article directories where a backlink will have value.
  • News and Press Releases – not an everyday occurrence, but a professional news or press release can create a host of backlinks and many visitors.

Take care to create your backlinks using white hat techniques. Don’t exchange links with blogs or websites that don’t make sense and beware of SEO companies that promise or guarantee Page One positioning. Give it your best shot and watch your blog traffic increase!
